The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Tel Aviv successfully held a reception to celebrate the 69th Anniversary of Independence Day at Dan Panorama Hotel in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, 4 January 2017 from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Deputy Minister of Regional Cooperation of Israel H.E. Mr. Ayoob Kara graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The Reception was attended by more than 130 guests, comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, among others, Head of Asia and the Pacific, Deputy Director-General Mr. Mark Sofer, Chief of State Protocol Mr. Meron Reuben and Director of South East Asia Ambassador H.E. Mr. Michael Ronen, Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, people from business and education circles, Myanmar students in Israel, Embassy officials and families.
Myanmar Ambassador to the State of Israel H.E. U Maung Maung Lynn and wife Daw Khin Lay Mu, together with Embassy officials welcomed the guests and the young Myanmar students from Ramat Negev International Center for Agricultural Training and Arava International Center for Agricultural Training (AICAT) entertained the guests with welcoming cultural performances. The students in colourful traditional national costumes of different national races performed variety of traditional dances of different national races of Myanmar.
After national anthems of Myanmar and Israel were played, H.E. U Maung Maung Lynn and Guest of Honour Deputy Minister H.E. Mr.Ayoob Kara delivered speeches. At the end of their speeches, Ambassador and Deputy Minister raised their glasses in a toast to wish further strengthening of relations. They both celebrated the Independence Day with ceremonial cake-cutting. A documentary video coverage of the Independence Day National Flag Raising Ceremony held in Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar in the early morning of the same day was also shown to the guests and it was followed by Myanmar youth’s cultural performance.
