Police outposts and police stations in Maungtaw District were attacked by Bengali terrorists at 1 am yesterday, leaving five policemen dead and seven bodies of the extremist terrorists were found at the scene.
The police outposts and police stations being attacked are Natchaung, Tamantha, Kuntheepin-Chaungwa, Nantthataung, Nantthataung-Chaungwa, Meetaik-Chaungwa, Kyeekyun, Zeepin-chaungwa, Laungdon, Thihokyun, Zinpaingnyar, Tharaykonboung, Panyaungbingyi, Shweyinaye, Myinlut, Alethankyaw, Udaung (Natala), Taung Bazzar, Phaungtawpyin and Maungtaw (Natala). Similarly, at about 3 am, about 150 terrorists divided themselve into two groups and were attempting to enter No (552) Light Infantry Regiment where they were driven out by the Tatmadaw members.
According to initial information, five policemen were dead with two arms taken and seven bodies of the extremist terrorists were recovered so far. Up to now, fighting remains in some locations and a combined forces of the Tatmadaw and police forces are still waging an attack against the extremist terrorists.
The terrorist attacks are being carried out in synchronization with the issue of final report by Advisory Commission on Rakhine State led by Dr. Kofi Annan. Detailed information will be released soon.
